The View Port Steakhouse is a little under-the-radar in the average travel guide, but nobody's told VPS. They just keep on expanding now taking over five dining rooms and halls, in a stately 200 year-old building at the Old Port, in Old Montreal. The wine selection is impressive, the food top quality, and the spaces are lush and warm with massive cut stone walls and wood beams the size of tall-ship masts. There is nothing out-of-the ordinary just traditional luxurious settings and top quality charcoal grilled meats, lobsters, and French Cuisine trappings. (is that the right word?). Here's a real local tip-- The View Port Steakhouse is famous for its brunch. You don't feel cramped, and because of the many rooms you might not even notice it but by noon on a Sunday, there are hundreds of people at the steakhouse settling-in for a real feast. While you can choose anything from the brunch menu, most opt for the all you can eat buffet. Suffice to say no one could eat it all and there is so much to choose from that you should be advised to really take it all in and see what is being offered before putting anything on your plate. The buffet has stations with omelette bars, and carvers who slice roasts right onto your plate, fruit bars, salad bars, and pretty much anything one can imagine fitting into a breakfast or lunch. Brunch is huge at the Vieux Port Steakhouse, but then again, so is the service, the ambiance, and of course the steaks.
