Description:
Founded in the late 1970s in one of the original member's living rooms, the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation (MPAF) was created with the vision of bringing together artists for fellowship, the exchange of ideas, and to further the art education of the artists and the public in Monterey. Today, the MPAF holds lectures and workshops, has a scholarship fund, and supports its members by providing them with a gallery space in which to showcase their works. The MPAF gallery is housed in a historical building on Cannery Row, the very building where scenes from the 1952 picture "Clash by Night," starring Barbara Stanwyck, Paul Douglas, and Marilyn Monroe were filmed.
