Its name aside, this place has no connection whatsoever to the Royal Palm Hotel that Henry Flagler, the railroad tycoon and Rockefeller friend, opened during the Gilded Age in 1897. And since it has stopped calling itself a "resort," which many people felt was stretching things a bit, this high-rise hotel is a pretty decent play to stay right in the thick of things. Featuring 409 modern rooms and suites fitted with flat-screen TVs, contemporary furnishings and updated bathroom fixtures, it also has two outdoor pools, a lounge, beachfront cabanas, a gift shop and a fitness center.
