Ask for a table on the ground floor, the staircase is steep and your food arrives a bit colder because the kitchen is downstairs.
Description:
I have been eating at Los Panchos ever since I can remember. Their specialty is pork tacos (carnitas) but their menu is very assorted, don't miss their mushroom soup or their quesadillas. When you walk in you will see the men chopping the freshly cooked meat and the women making corn tortillas in front of the stove. The waiters come and go dropping off and picking up orders in a hurried pace so that when your meal arrives at the table the tortilla will be hot and the meat fresh and tasty. Los Panchos is not much to look at, it is clean but not much in terms of decor, I get the impression that they opened and were thinking of decorating but they have not had time to do so because they have clients at the door all day long. This is a restaurant with mostly local clientele, it is in the Reforma-Chapultepec area a few blocks from the Camino Real hotel and if you walked by it you would not give it a second glance. A must if you are looking for the real and authentic Mexico.
