Enjoy views of the Zocalo and Metropolitan Cathedral from the roof terrace.
Description:
The Centro Cultural de Espana (CCE) in Mexico City is a real nightlife surprise: a super-hip arts center that attracts a young crowd even though it is sponsored by the government of Spain. And, what a happening space it is – the roof terrace alone, with its views of the Zocalo, makes CCE one of the top nighttime destinations for creative types under the age of 40.
The crowded calendar of activities includes such diverse offerings as Jazz and Tapas on Wednesday, Effervescent Thursday, and Club Cobra on Friday. Saturday nights really rock with live DJs until 1:30 am. Part of what makes the center so popular with young Mexicans is the fact that it doesn't shy away from controversial topics (despite the fact that its next-door neighbor is the Metropolitan Cathedral); CCE has hosted such book readings as Pornotopia: Architecture and Sexuality in Playboy during the Cold War.
