Description:
The bar and restaurant, La Casa de las Sirenas, may only have opened in 1994 but its historic home dates back to 1750. And, what a home it is! The rooftop terrace overlooks the fascinating Templo Mayor, the ruins of the most important Aztec temple. While the restaurant serves fine traditional and updated Mexican cuisine it is the experience of sipping tequila late at night overlooking the city that is the reason to come to Las Sirenas. Choose from one of a reputed 250 brands of tequila – añejo is the smoothest, having been aged longer than reposado, joven, or blanco. The scene here is older and more conservative, and is popular with tourists – both national and international – who enjoy the mellow tones of the live music. La Casa de las Sirenas could be the first stop on a Zocalo pubcrawl that includes Bar La Opera.
