Description:
With the November 2009 opening in Mexico of Hotel Rosas & Xocolate, super-deluxe, state of the art accommodations arrived in Merida on the Yucatan Peninsula. No expense was spared in creating this unique Mexican hotel, which was a labor of love for owner Carol Kolozs and famous Mexican architect-designers Salvador Reyes and Josefina Larrain. Seventeen sleekly appointed rooms and suites are spread comfortably throughout the 19th century pink Rosado family mansion on Paseo de Montejo. All the furniture in the guest rooms was handmade in Yucatan and upholstered with imported Spanish fabrics. For a sybaritic delight, luxuriate in your room's outdoor stone soaking tub, which is open to the sky. The hotel's restaurant, Ek Chuah, is named after the Mayan god of travelers and cacao and is a destination itself. The spa offers Xocolatherapy, a soothing full body wrap using 100% chocolate paste provided by Ki'Xocolatl's Mathieu Brees. Right across the street is a must-see landmark: the Anthropology Museum.
