Melbourne's CBD is full of tiny little bars hidden down murky laneways, and NGM is one of the best, especially if one is on a date! Tiny in size and covering two floors, it can be best described as an opium den mixed with an ultra-cool lounge room. There is no sign so pay special attention to the address. The drink list is impressive but the old-school cocktails are the real winner, many blending preserved peaches, absinthe and other classic ingredients. Vodka lovers will enjoy over 13 varieties including Canada's Crystal Head Vodka coming in at a cool $750 a bottle. Not cheap, but this bar is a very stylish option that many Melburnians wouldn't even know about.
