Like the beach options on Maui, shopping options are abundant. Whether looking for high-end brands or local hand-made works of art, you are bound to find something for your closet. If looking for beach wear, we recommend a few name-brand options like Billabong, Local Motion, or Honolua Surf. Smaller Maui-only surf shops include Maui Tropix (home to the famous Maui Built brand), Second Wind Sale & Surf, or Hi-Tech. All these shops offer an amazing collection of surfboards, board shorts, swimsuits, and locally themed t-shirts. The ladies will want to shop at Maui Girl in Paia, which consistently places bikinis in Sports Illustrated photo shoots.
As far as malls go, you should drive out to the Shops of Wailea if looking for more luxury brands like Gucci or Burberry. Whalers Village in Ka'anapali also has a nice blend of high-end and local shops. Ka'ahumanu Mall and Maui Mall are located in central Maui, about 10 minutes from the airport. More locals tend to frequent the hallways of these malls.
For the best prices on locally made gifts, head over to the Maui Swap Meet (held every Saturday morning). You will easily find the best pricing on jewelry, souvenirs, leis, frames, and other Hawaii-themed items, as they are sold directly by the local merchants.
