Maui has some unbelievable snorkeling and diving spots. Some are easily accessible by car and just off shore, while others are very remote and require a boat to get to.
Probably the best snorkeling on Maui has always been on the crescent moon-shaped island of Molokini. Boat tours to Molokini are offered every morning out of numerous Maui harbors. Some advanced scuba tours will even take guests to the backside of Molokini where shallow reefs can drop off to 100-foot sea cliffs.
For the casual snorkeler, we recommend heading to Ulua Beach in Kihei. Often times you will see scuba classes training here to earn their scuba license. Another great beach to explore for snorkeling is around the right side of Black Rock at Ka'anapali Beach. Hawaiian sea turtles can often be seen swimming at deeper depths. If looking to rent snorkel gear, Snorkel Bob's offers cheap daily rental packages for as low as $6 a day!
You could skip to rent the gear and instead opt to book a snorkel cruise to Molokini, Turtle Arches, or even Lanai. Various tours offered by the Pacific Whale Foundation and Trilogy Excursions present great snorkel adventures.
