Kapalua is located on Maui's western shoreline, about 10 minutes past the resort town of Ka'anapali. You may want to explore some of Ka'anapali and Lahaina's attractions as well, considering the towns are so close by.
Kapalua is arguably most famous for its world-renowned golf course which features two 18-hole courses, the Plantation Course and the Bay Course. The Plantation Course has hosted the first PGA event of the year for more than a decade. In 2011, tickets to the PGA event were free, and spectators could watch their favorite professional golfers up close and personal.
Kapalua is also home to the Ritz-Carlton. The 5-star hotel enjoys an amazing setting close to the water and relaxing open-air lobbies/grounds. Most golfers planning to play the Kapalu Golf Club opt to spend a night or two at the Ritz-Carlton. Even if you are not a guest at the hotel, you should spend some time walking the incredible grounds.
There are a couple great beaches nearby. D.T. Flemmings Beach is right next to the Ritz-Carlton, and possesses some amazing offshore waves that attract the surfers. It is also one of the only beaches on that side of the island with lifeguards on duty. Honolua Bay (also a famous surfing beach) is about a 10 minute drive north past D.T. Flemmings.
