Old "Vieux" Port
Located at the mouth of the Old Port, also known as the "Vieux Port," this neighborhood is at the heart of Marseilles and is the most popular area for sight-seeing. Marseilles was founded as a trading port by the Greeks and remains one of France's busiest commercial ports today. The neighborhood includes the 1st arrondissement, the 2nd and 7th, as well as the Iles du Frioul, located right of the coast of Marseilles. Visitors should be sure to visit the fish market, seafood restaurants and museums that pepper the area.
