Located on East Market, you can find Joe Ley's by looking for the old brick building flanked by two enormous toy soldier statues. Upon entrance, the attendant at the desk will hand you a slip of paper with letters and numbers and explain how they correspond to items' prices. Then the fun begins, as you wander through the three floors of antiques. Joe Ley's has everything from hand-painted Italian armoires and dining room sets to door knobs and candle holders. There's also impractical but delightful items, like old cash registers, Victrolas, carousel horses and at least three fun-house mirrors. An outdoor area includes garden furniture, bird baths and marble and stone statues. For those who travel light but want a unique souvenir, there's an entire rack of antique postcards from across the country.
