Located between downtown and the Highlands, just off East Broadway, the Café serves consistently delicious breakfast and lunch, with great service, and endless refills of coffee (order tea and you get a pot of hot water and a selection of teabags). Portions are large, and everything is reasonably priced, between $2.25 for homemade baked goods and $8.95 for breakfast and lunch entrées. Our favorites for breakfast include the oatmeal, French toast, omelette and stratas (with or without meat). For lunch, the Louis XIV (a chicken salad sandwich), King Charles I (tuna sandwich), and the tomato dill soup are satisfying options. A children's menu includes straightforward sandwiches (peanut butter and jelly, turkey), and the back patio and brightly colored umbrellas provide outdoor seating in warmer weather. You might leave with leftovers, but you'll never leave hungry.
