NileGuide Expert Says:
The first time we tried Hillbilly Tea, we had breakfast, then returned later that afternoon for tea.

Description:
While tea lovers (and snobs) will be right at home at Hillbilly Tea, so will anyone who loves (organic) Appalachian food. What's Appalachian food? According to the menu at Hillbilly Tea, it includes poached eggs on a biscuit with forest mushroom gravy, apple rosemary scones with butter and honey, garlicky braised greens, BBQ pork pie, smoked catfish with lemon tartar sauce, and bourbon bread pudding. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and portions are reasonable, so you don't leave stuffed and sloth-like. Clothespins serve as napkin holders and check presenters, and service is friendly. Prices range from $7-12 for breakfast, $5-7 for lunch, and $14-18 for dinner entrées.
For those going for tea but unsure what to choose, the servers can offer guidance (the smoky mountain chai is wonderful). The tea comes in antique tea cups and small glass pitchers. And for non-tea drinkers, it's OK – there's coffee, too.
