The huge basin of the Southland holds all sorts of great things to do. People come in droves for
Disneyland, as well as amusement parks like
Six Flags and
Knott's Berry Farm and theme parks like
Universal CityWalk. (
Movie studio tours are popular as well).
The
Griffith Observatory is a great
Art Deco building with expansive views. The surrounding
Griffith Park area holds many hikes and excursions as well.
Huntington Library boasts the fabulous library and the expansive gardens. Other good Los Angeles gardens include the
Los Angeles County Arboretum, the
Descanso Gardens, and
more.
Zuma Beach and the
Venice Beach Walk stand in here for the beach culture that is associated with Los Angeles. There are
so many beaches to check out if you are eager to get your toes in the sand! The bike path that passes through Venice (where you have to slow down for the crowds) goes from Santa Monica all the way down to the edge of the Palos Verdes peninsula.
These destinations are only the tip of the iceberg as the Los Angeles basin has so much to offer in terms of cultural and geographic highlights.
