Los Angeles has night spots as hip and fabulous as you want them to be; beautiful party people, starlets and young millionares are all out there having a good time. And you can join them provided you get past all the velvet ropes and can afford the drinks.
This list opens with a classic, the
Bar Marmont on the Sunset Strip. Books have been written on the antics and escapades of the celebrities over the years in the
Chateau Marmont; the bar is still peopled by the famous.
La Cita and the
Short Stop are both a lot lower-key. La Cita is popular bar/music spot downtown with different crowds on different nights of the week. The Short Stop is a good Echo Park bar, there is often a lively crowd and sometimes DJs and dancing. The owners of the Short Stop also run
Footsie's -- a cool bar in the Highland Park area.
Back on the fabulous track,
Koi is a Hollywood restaurant/bar that is very much a part of the A-list scene.
Geisha House, the sushi joint that Ashton Kutcher has a stake in, is also a hot-spot.
The list rounds out with a lot of Hollywood night spots. Other places that could be added to this selection are
Cinespace,
Avalon, as well as
other nightclubs.
Downtown can hold its own as a nighttime destinations these days nowadays. In addition to La Cita (mentioned above), some hip places to check out downtown include
The Edison,
The Association,
Cole's (with
Varnish, a bar within a bar), and
The Standard Rooftop Bar. . .
