Hampstead & North London
Home to London's wealthiest, north London, and in particular Hampstead, quite literally teems with wealth: the streets are lined with multi-million pound mansions - the type of neighborhood one dares to dream about one day living in. Famous residents include the Primrose Hill set (Kate Moss, Sadie Frost etc.), so-called for the fact that they all live in close proximity to Primrose Hill and famously socialize and party with one another.The affluence of the area ensures a certain level of exclusivity and it is far from fashionable or trendy, yet there remains a certain je ne sais quoi about it that appeals to the younger residents with Belsize Park remaining a desirable, yet still affordable, postcode.
The parkland of Hampstead Heath, which separates Hampstead from Highgate, has three open-air public swimming ponds (be warned - nudity is permitted - it is rumored that Katherine Hepburn once swam nude here), the stately home of Kenwood House, and a famously legally protected view of London from atop Parliament Hill.
Spaniards Road, which runs along the west side of the heath, is the site of Spaniard's Inn pub, one of London's oldest pubs (and the site of one of the city's best beer gardens, in this writers humble opinion).
