Not to be confused with its same-named sister restaurant in Rua Pascoal de Melo, this Hong Kong Grande Palácio is larger and features more in the way of traditional Chinese décor. Greeting guests at the entrance is a huge lobster- and crab-filled aquarium; above it, Chinese characters in gold emblazon an archway. The menu is one of the most comprehensive of all the city's Chinese restaurants, and draws a substantial oriental clientele to the tables. Authentic ingredients are imaginatively used to create dishes like sweet corn creamy soup with chicken, rice flower pancakes with pork and honey and lobster with onion and ginger. The prawn ravioli is recommended, so is the cuttlefish with vegetables – seafood is big here. For a taste of "surf & turf" Chinese style, order the green paprika stuffed with chicken and prawns. As with the other Grande Palácio, dim sum dumplings are a speciality, and there's an inspired selection of desserts that use mango, coconut and other exotic fruits in puddings to finish off with.
