Nice trip in wintertime during the weekdays when the crowds are gone.
Description:
Chosica, a quiet town located outside Lima, right on the way to the Central Andes, is very popular due to its benign weather, that remains sunny, warm and dry almost all year round: this is the reason why it is called "The Sun Villa" Villa of the Sun". Chosica's countryside has always been considered as a perfect spot for fun, excursions, outdoor activities, picnics, campings and country houses; its oldest houses are dated from late 1,800s, mostly built by wealthy Limenian families to spend here the foggy and humid Lima winters. Located at 850m of altitude, Chosica is still an excellent choice for a weekend, and in fact it is also a meeting point for mountain bikers and trekking expeditions, as well as for and campers heading to other spots such as San Pedro de Casta, Marcahuasi or the Palakala falls (must buses depart from Chosica's central plaza, called Parque Echenique).
