North Shore
The jewel of Lake Tahoe, home to Squaw Valley, historic Truckee, Tahoe City, and the fount from which the Truckee River springs. The North Shore boasts some of the nicest beaches on the Lake, the best ski resorts, and a quaint beauty that is truly a living postcard.
One of the best local hangouts is
King's Beach State Recreation Area, where you can find loads of sunny, sandy beaches, access to the cool waters of the lake, inexpensive restaurants and fun shopping. King's Beach is even nice to relax on in the wintertime. There are no crowds and sometimes the weather is mild enough for a barefoot walk in the sand.
