Description:
The Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary is truly unique. It gives you and your kids the chance to get up-close and personal with these gentle, domesticated beasts. It's an activity that comes highly recommended as there's nothing quite like it within such close distance to the city. You can feed, stroke, ride and even swim with the elephants. Just 90 minutes away from KL, this elephant sanctuary encourages guests to participate in feeding, exercising and washing activities in a terrific jungle river location. These elephants have a heavy responsibility – leading away wild elephants from human habitation and back into the jungles. Swing by the visitor's center to view the video show on the plight of wild elephants. The sanctuary does not charge admission but donations are encouraged for the staff and the upkeep of the elephants.More than 500 elephants have so far been relocated. This is a great success, given the fact that the Asian elephant is an endangered species.
