Spiralen (meaning the spiral), is a tunnel carved into Bragernesåsen hills. What makes this tunnel unusual, is that it's formed as 7 consecutive circles, like a spiral. Driving here can be slightly dizzying. On top is Spiraltoppen (the spiral top), a recreational area at the forest edge, with Spiraltoppen restaurant, an outdoor museum and several kilometers of hiking and skiiing trails, lit at night. After visiting drammne in 1972, popular British crime fiction authour Desmond Bagley included a chase through the spiral tunnel in his novel Tightrope Men.
