Description:

Formed during the last Ice Age, Kjøsterudjuvet Gorge is only 10 minutes from the city center of Drammen. Not much has changed during the last 10000 years, vegetation and trees are left to decompose naturally. The walls on either side rise up to 60 meters and the canyon itself is rather narrow, so it's an exhilarating climb and only 1300 meters long. You'll be hopping from rock to rock in a stream, and ropes or ladders are mounted to help you across the more difficult passages. It's not too terribly strenuous though; you might meet a gang of local 3rd graders along the way. Be sure to wear water proofs. During the final stage of the ascent (by a ladder bolted into the cliff face), expect to have water sprayed in your face,. On top is pretty Lake Gamledammen where you can have a well-deserved rest.
