Description:
One of the Okanagan's most popular ski and snowboard destinations, Big White Ski Resort in central British Columbia has beauty and accessibility to claim for its fame. Many people are drawn to Big White to experience the splendour of its landscape. The fantastical-looking hoodoos that dot its slopes are a signature emblem of Big White, which sits southeast of Kelowna, within easy driving distance of BC's famed playland.
Of course, many others come here because of its elevation. At 5,450 ft/1661 meters, Big White's village has the highest elevation of any of ski resort in BC. It is also one of the largest resorts in the province. With a total size of 7,355 acres/3,052 hectares, it has plenty of expanse for just about any winter sport. Its 16 lifts include 2 tubing lifts and a child's Magic Carpet. Its 145 trails can handle 28,000 skiers per hour, and are geared for every level of expertise. It ranks as one of the few BC resorts that offer four levels of runs (beginner, intermediate, expert and extreme).
Big White also has some of the most varied snowboarding terrain in the province, with a 500-foot/ 152.4 meter super pipe that has 17 transitional walls, a 400-foot / 122 meter half-pipe with 12 walls, and several adaptable courses that can meet the needs of multi-level boarding.
Dining and shopping amenities, spa facilities as well as ski-in ski-out condos and inns with full amenities to fulfill the needs of just about any skiing holiday.
