In the Kananaskis Valley, less than an hour from Calgary, is the Kananaskis Country Golf Course, which is made up of two 18 hole courses: Mt. Lorette and Mt. Kidd. The mountain backdrop is spectacular in every direction, and the course is one of the best manicured golf destinations in Alberta. Lush fairways, superb greens, silica sand bunkers, and glacier water ponds are surrounded by boreal forest and wildlife, making this a true gem. However, because it is cheaper than most mountain courses and it is so conveniently located, this course is very busy. You have to check back regularly on the online booking website to find a tee time, and the 4 hours of play standard is strictly enforced by the marshals. Nevertheless, this is a great choice for golf in the Rockies!
