Kumpir is a fancy name given to the baked potato that is filled with ingredients of its eater's choice -from sausages to corn and olives to peas. The top of the kumpir is then decorated with ketch-up or special sauce.Ortakoy is the home of Kumpir Houses. Entering Ortaköy through its main square, the Kumpir Buffets or Houses are lined up next to one and the other. The sellers shout out to potential customers, trying to win the customer and to divert them from heading to the stand right next to them.
Kumpir is one of the must-try snacks or a lunch option for visitors. Kumpir buffets do not have tables though, therefore you will have to eat your potato either on the banks next to the coast (towards the inside of Ortakoy) or at one of the tea houses.
