Doors Group is a well known local entertainment group company that has so far put their mark on many great things in the city. When a restaurant or club business is successful, and you ask to yourself who might be behind this, it is usually the Doors Group. Among their portfoy of other restaurants are Wan-na, Kitchenette, Vogue, Da Mario and Zuma. They are the genius behind A'jia Hotel and they keep Anjelique going for years now.Gina replaced the ex Harvel Nichols restaurant and bar (Gilt) over two years ago. Gilt used to be a success initially -as it was inside Harvey Nichols; but lost its potential clientele to soon to competing nearby business. It was then that the Doors Group signed up to rent this restaurant area. When Gilt came down, it was a secret for a long time who might be replacing it. When the Doors Group first claimed the area by putting up their poster that said "Coming soon", people were confused. This coincided with the Wan-na (restaurant and nightclub) changing addresses as well and so many people thought Wan-na was moving into Harvey Nichols. That same year, Wan-na did not open its doors in its original place (Tepebasi / Odakule) when its time came. It was obvious that Wanna was changing address; but no one really know where.
Wan-na also moved to Kanyon at the end; but not into Harvey Nichols. Gina soon opened after all this debate as athe new brand of the Group. It is now their forth Italian brand after A'jia Hotel restaurant, Da Mario and Mama. Food at Gina is fine; although the pastas are a bit heavy on the stomach hours after you have eaten it. Their soups are extremely fine and so are their risotto. Keep in mind, this is not the official Harvey Nichols relax and dine area; so the price for value ratio is not quite balanced.
