Beşiktaş is best known for its buzzing streets and commercial life. It is much famous for its fish market, ferry port, academic institutions, passages and stone-paved commercial streets. As such, most of Beşiktaş's restaurant scene is dominated by artisan restaurants, fast food chains, walk-in & take-out places, buffets and tea houses. Most of these places are nominated with a prefix such as "Meshur" meaning famous, such as the
Meshur Recep Baba (Famous Father Recep), alluding to the fact that these are old and cultured restaurants no matter how simple and cheap they may actually look.
Nonetheless, Besiktas also harbours some very elite and expensive restaurants with bars as well. Those are situated further out from the commercial center and on the banks of Akaretler and Çırağan, both of which are neighborhoods of Besiktas itself.
Le Vogue would be one of the most notable ones, that is walking distance from the fish market (though try not taking that walk in your heels).
Hotels of Beşiktaş, such as
Four Seasons Bosphorus,
Swiss as simply referred as among locals,
Conrad and
Çırağan are also no less when it comes to their restaurant scene. They exhume lavish, luxury and atmosphere just as well.
