If you are willing to experience the mix of bohemian and elite side of Istanbul, Galata is then where you want to be and where you want to stay in Istanbul.
This little neighborhood that extends out from the
Galata Tower was once an artisan neighborhood a butcher here and a locksmith there. Over time with the relocation of photographers, architects, musicians and designers -first relocating their workshops- and then their homes altogether, the face of the Galata neighborhood started to change forever.
Galata is now home to many artists. The famous
Doğan Apartment is where most of them live and the
Mavra Cafe across from there, is where they drink their morning coffee or sip their afternoon drink. Down the road and beyond are many boutiques selling upscale clothing to second hand vintage stuff, music stores, coffee houses, authentic restaurants and hammams.
Galata is also home to annual festivals such as the Galata Fashion Festival. Just get out there and enjoy and discover and have fun!
