Description:
Fourth of July Lake is a tiny lake high in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. Many visitors hike the trail to this lake as a day hike, which is a moderate hike of about 1.5 miles each way. The way in in almost all uphill, but that means the way out is all downhill.
Some visitors backpack in, or ride horses, and camp out. While there are no developed campsites, camping is allowed. Some backpackers venture further up the mountain to Washington Lake.
While the trail may be somewhat busy during the summer months, camping provides a complete getaway from the bulk of outdoor enthusiasts.
