Description:
The Grove, as locals call it, really was once a grove of apple trees. At least according to the conventional stories. Today, the plaza features a fountain spouting right up out of the brick pavement. Children can be found playing in the sprays during hot days. There's also some whimsical public art, such as a bronze of three children playing marbles, titled "Keepsies."
Events occur both outside on this plaza, as well as inside at the convention center and the Qwest arena across the plaza. Summertime Wednesdays are filled with music, food, and drinks during Alive After Five. Saturday mornings the Grove is part of the Capital City Public Market. During the holiday season, a giant Christmas tree adorns the center of the Grove, hung with requests from needy children in the area, giving residents an opportunity to help their neighbors out.
Qwest Arena is home to the Idaho Steelheads hockey team and several other sporting and concert events. The convention center hosts the Boise Green Expo, Festival of Trees, the Women's Fitness Celebration Expo, and numerous other expos and meetings all year long.
It truly is the center of what's happening in Boise.
