Merritt's Country Cafe
NileGuide Expert Says:
Late nights are the fun time to be at Merritt's. If you're into people watching, you'll find all kinds on a weekend night after midnight: punks, red-necks, noisy rowdy kids, old timers, and drunk partiers. Since you can order anything all the time, go for it.

NileGuide Expert tip:
Merritt's can get crowded, sometimes to the point that larger groups will have a long wait, especially late at night. Be prepared to wait if you have a big group.
Description:
Atmosphere: Imagine the kind of place miners, cowboys, or factory workers go after work, and that is Merritt's. It's the kind of small town diner that almost everyone around is familiar with. But in Boise, Idaho, everyone goes to Merritt's. The jukebox is always going, the waitresses call you honey, and the tables are Formica chic. Teenagers love to mosh here late at night, because there is no alcohol served and it's open all night long, making it a perfect sobering up spot for party-goers, a great after dance hangout for high school kids, or just a fun place to take the family.
Food: Most of the food at Merritt's is nothing to write home about. It's your typical diner food, but when that's what you want, you won't find it any better somewhere else. However, there are a couple of exceptions. The famous scones are so good. They are basically a giant deep fried hunk of dough spread with honey, powdered sugar, or cinnamon and sugar. If you are a first-timer at Merritt's, you gotta have a scone.
