Idaho has a large Hispanic population, so you know Mexican food here better be authentic or it's a no-go. El Gallo Giro has the best food anywhere in Idaho. I mean, people in Boise drive out to Kuna just to eat here.

Why? Because when you step into the tiny restaurant in old downtown Kuna, you feel like you might have just come in for lunch from working out on the farm or driving the dairy truck. The staff is friendly and easy going, just like the clientele.

And the food. The food! It's plentiful, handmade, delicious, and reasonably priced. What more could you want? While El Gallo Giro is a casual restaurant, it's not fast food. Don't be fooled. You will get meals here just like your abuelo used to make. Sure, you'll find authentic tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, and all of that usual stuff--made so fresh and good you won't even recognize it. You'll also find menudo, a tripe soup; lengua en chile Coloarado, a beef tongue in spicy sauce; oysters in the shell; fresh guacamole; ten kinds of salsa; and more than 30 kinds of tequila. Plus desserts like deep fried ice cream and dulce de leche cheesecake.
