It's TAZMANIA BALLROOM, the latest venue launched by dragon-i's Gilbert Yeung and Hong Kong's new HQ for serious partygoers.TAZMANIA BALLROOM's dark, decadent and stylish interiors by Tom Dixon.With fond memories of time spent at a British boarding school and at college in Canada including many hours of enjoyment spent at a venue bearing the same name, Gilbert recognised that the unique concept of glamour meets games was tailor-made for Hong Kong's hip, cool urbanites, dressed to the max, oozing style and eager to both party and play till dawn.
With interiors by Tom Dixon through Design Research Studio, designer of London's edgy private club Shoreditch House, TAZMANIA BALLROOM is a dark, decadent and stylish venue oozing class. From the bronze mirrored staircase entrance, guests emerge into TAZMANIA BALLROOM's glamorous and contemporary space that includes an elevated DJ booth, pool table area, long bar and outdoor terrace.
With interior walls featuring geometric diamond buttresses to the cavernous ceiling on one side and plaster floor to ceiling bookshelves on the other, the gold-plated pool tables can also be magically raised up to the ceiling to reveal a dance floor for parties - or to allow for ping-pong tables on popular Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Gilbert Yeung – Founder, dragon-i concepts since 1967. Reminiscent of a very British James Bond-style private gentleman's club, patrons are shaken not stirred as they dance to music provided by resident DJs and a Funktion One sound system, reputedly the best in the world and only experienced in Hong Kong at TAZMANIA BALLROOM. From classic martinis a la Bond, to champagnes, cocktails and that must-have Cohiba cigar, the TAZMANIA BALLROOM bar menu guarantees an evening to remember.
