Boutique hotels are thin on the ground in Saigon, which is something of a surprise in a city with a keen eye on trends. As one of just a handful of ultra-stylish small-scale options, Ma Maison doesn't have much competition to contend with. Thankfully, however, it has resisted the temptation to rest on its laurels and let the cash flow in. The ambiance here is unmistakably Francophile. The villa is decked out in recognizably Gallic tones, with a light yellow paint job, shuttered windows and ornate railings imbuing it with the romantic colonial feel most visitors look for on pitching up in Indochina.  The French theme is further bolstered in the hotel's restaurant, Little Bistro, which offers classic country-style fare like braised chicken with mushrooms to hotel guests. The main asset of the hotel, however, is its ability to deliver the personal touch.  Complementary mobile phones and friendly welcome from both staff and owner Natasha make this that ultimate cliché – a home away from home.
