During Advent towns and cities all across Germany come alive as local shop owners and craftspeople bring their wares to city marketplaces to sell to joyful locals and visitors alike. All day everyday you and yours can visit one of the 140 booths offering food, beverages and novelties while taking in the jubilant atmosphere of Heidelberg during the holidays. Be sure to try the traditional German Mulled Wine, or Glühwein, served in a special, seasonal, city-specific mug (that is if you are willing to forfeit the 2,50 euro deposit, or Pfand).
