Family-owned since 1899, Cafe Gundel is one of the most respected (and delicious) cafe/bistros in Heidelberg. Sit outside and enjoy a beautiful view of the castle or in the "casually upscale" dining room, and take pleasure in one of the cafe's specialty desserts. You can't go wrong with a Heidelberg Schlosskugel or a Heidelberger Pflasterstein, two delectable delights responsible for spreading the Gundel name far and wide. If you are in town between the end of October and Christmas, you have to stop for a Heidelberger Barockspringerle, practically a Heidelberg staple during the holiday season. Enjoy breakfast daily until 5pm and warm, home-made meals until 5:30pm.
