Founded in 2006, this nationally award winning Kewy Lime Pie Company ships pies and related Key Lime products nationwide. Having captured 5 blue ribbons from the American Pie Council's National Pie Championships, the Key West Key Lime Pie Company is in its growth stages and set to take on new areas of expansion. The company operates 2 retail stores and production facilities in the Florida Keys and ships to numerous wholesale accounts across the country, including Macy's Herald Square, Chima Steak Houses, Maikai Ft. Lauderdale, and a host of others from coast to coast.The Key West Key Lime Pie Company, Key West, Florida, has also been featured on an episode of the popular Food Network show "Throwdown" with Chef Bobby Flay.
Now with 2 locations, Big Pine Key and Key West they are looking forward to continued growth.
"Even with the recession in progress we felt it was still possible to expand" says co-owner Jim Brush. "We opened our 2nd location, November 2009, in the heart of the cruise ship area of Key West, Front and Duval Streets. With more than 700,000 cruise ship visitors annually, many of whom pass right by my front door, it was an ideal spot," Jim explains.
"The one thing we've learned is the gourmet food industry will survive many turns in the economy. Simple indulgences make people happy and they will not deprive themselves of pleasures to the tummy. Don't get me wrong, the economy has been a real eye-opener. The monthly tasks in good times such as monitoring inventory, labor, cash flow and marketing budgets became a daily routine. You did not want to keep cash tied up anywhere. As Key West's only winner of FIVE Blue Ribbons in The National Pie Championships we are constantly sought out by visitors who are on the hunt for the Best Key Lime Pies. We have a huge wholesale business in the Keys and across the country. We are currently looking at 2 more locations in the Keys."
