Florence offers many cool things to do in the city and the surrounding areas. Things from flying high among the trees to learning about astronomy through the eyes of Galileo. There are many activities you can get lost in. Many of these cool excursions can be found within the city walls. There are a few where you can travel just a bit outside the center where you be surrounded with wonderment and fabulous views.
Parco Il Gigante is located just about 10 minutes by car from Piazza Liberta`. It is a tree climbing adventure for all ages. It is set in a wooded area with picnic tables so you and your family can enjoy a deliciously fresh panino as the kids run wild. Cinque Terre (the 5 lands) is a train ride away from Florence with amazing views of the sea and of the mountainside towns. Be sure to have your camera with you! Heading back to the center, pass by the Medici Chapels near San Lorenzo Market. A authentic chapel made by Michelangelo himself and finished by Vasari is a sight to see. The incredible silence and chilling feel of the chapel gives you a sense of how important the family Medici was to Florence.
From San Lorenzo to Piazza della Signoria, the Corridoio Vasariano is a specific hallway that lets you see how the rich and noble lived. Nothing is like this corridor. You need to reserve a time to visit this exclusive place. It is worth it, to see the view from the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno river.
Cool things to do are all over the city, grab a map and mark down these places to see. Have fun!
