Downtown Flagstaff is home to both historic hotels and trendy boutiques. Part of its charm is in the exterior architecture like the original Wells Fargo Bank's sculpted signage above the Flagstaff Piano Clock & Fine Art Gallery on the northwest corner of Leroux and Route 66, or the vintage advertisements painted on the sides of brick buildings. Many businesses feature some of the original turn-of-the-century interior construction: wood floors, stone walls and grand, tin ceiling tiles.
The diverse personalities come to light at the various bars, restaurants and public spaces in the downtown area. It is all easy to traverse by foot and it is even easier to find what you're looking for, since the locals and college student there are incredibly friendly. A hot dog vendor is usually parked at the northwest corner of San Francisco for the local lunch hour regulars and tourists alike.
