Downtown
Flagstaff has never been a quiet place. Streams of cars along historic Route 66 and a busy train route, including a daily stop by Amtrak's Southwest Chief line, have ensured that downtown remains lively, vibrant, a little noisy, and a great place to grab a drink and enjoy the sound of the train whistles. Where else to stop and wet your whistle than our number one pick, the Monte Vista Lounge, which gains favor for bringing great live music to the people of Flagstaff on a nightly basis in an unpretentious rock club atmosphere.
But can you really leave Flagstaff without experiencing first-hand an authentic cowboy roadhouse? The Museum Club, last on our list but certainly not least, is right on Route 66. This fun, rowdy roadhouse began as a taxidermy and trading post back in 1931. Today, big-game trophies hang from the walls of this kitschy cowboy palace, where couples can boogie and line-dance the night away.
Downtown Flagstaff is also home to many fine breweries, including our number six pick, Flagstaff Brewing Company, or "Flag Brew" to the locals. With a lively pub atmosphere, spacious patio, and house favorites like the Bubbaganouj IPA and Three-Pin Pale Ale, this is where you'll find us on a summer night.
