Offerings commanding views of the Firth of Forth from Great King Street, the Howard is an intimate and discreet luxury 5-star hotel. Made up of three Georgian townhouses, the 18 luxury rooms and suites feature oil paintings, antique furniture, large windows and some of the best bathrooms in town.
The Atholl restaurant at the hotel was originally intended as a dining room just for guests, but proved so popular with local residents - especially for its famous afternoon tea - that it has grown into a properly luxury restaurant. But it only seats 14, however so be sure to book early. The breakfast room features hand-painted murals.
The hotel drawing room, with its curving, barrel-shaped walls and deep knole sofas, is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks or nightcaps.
