Escape the Park City + Salt Lake crowds and head to Ogden Valley!
Description:
Most visitors to Utah on ski vacation think about Park City and its resorts (Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons, Deer Valley) or Salt Lake's world-famous areas (Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude). But locals know that Ogden Valley (60-70 minutes north of Salt Lake) has a few unsung heroes of its own, including Powder Mountain and Snowbasin. Just as with the Salt Lake City resorts, these too receive an annual average of 500" of snow. But on Powder Mountain, these inches really remain *powder* for much longer than at some of the more popular resorts -as this area boast more than 2500 skiable acres. In addition to the lifts, Powder Mountain also offers cat skiing for a reasonable price. This is a great way to experience the backcountry without hiking for hours or paying for a helicopter. Ogden Valley, the home of Powder Mountain, is beautiful in a way unique to Utah, with spiky, craggy mountain tops lining the relatively empty valley below.
