There's only so many museums and monuments one can take. When you start itching for fresh air and open spaces, it's time to delve into the outdoor activities in Eau Claire. You don't need to be a fitness guru to enjoy the natural wonders of Eau Claire; these activities come just as active or relaxed as you'd like. So get out of the city, and get back to nature.
Start with a horse drawn carriage ride at Cabin Ridge Rides location. Later, take a hike through the Beaver Creek Reserve and make a game of identifying all of the birds you see along the way. Finish off the day with some apple picking at Hillview Farm or Autumn Harvest Winery.
You'll need a few more days to visit historic sites like the Cranberry Discovery Center and the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp. You'll probably want to do some fishing along the way in Lake Holcombe. If the weather is a little frosty, consider sledding down hill at Oakwood Hills Neighborhood Park.
Don't forget to tour the mysterious Crystal Cave.
