Since its move to Dover a few years ago, just a few miles north of Portsmouth, the Children's Museum of New Hampshire has been on an ambitious quest to offer youngsters even more opportunities for learning and fun. The result are a collection of inventive exhibits that are sure to excite young imaginations. Among the most notable of these additions is Cochecosystem which uses a fun rolling ball maze to generate interest in the ecological importance of the Cocheco River, located just outside the museum itself. Other highlights include Dino Detective in which boys and girls sift through a sandbox filled with crushed walnuts to search for elusive dinosaur bones; the Music Matrix and Sound where boys and girls gleefully slap, tap and dance on brightly colored tiles to create music and sounds; and the Yellow Submarine where youngsters busily steer and operate periscopes and sonar as they command their own playground submarine. The museum has done a great job of creating a wonderland of activities which can easily make for a full day of fun.
