Denver's family-friendly attractions let the kids run loose while being fun for the whole family. The
Denver Zoo has a number of interactive exhibits, along with public feedings, scheduled shows and demonstrations that both educate and entertain.
The Wildlife Experience is special because it connects people with wildlife and habitats to teach them how they can have a positive effect on the environment.
At the
Denver Museum of Nature and Science, visitors can learn about space, wildlife, ancient mummies and other workings of the world. Its Discovery Zone keeps younger children occupied with hands-on activities and bigger kids will undoubtedly enjoy the IMAX Theater and Gates Planetarium for out-of-this-world views, both next door to the museum.
For more active fun, Denver's amusement parks are the way to go. Six Flags is the biggest, with more than 100 rides plus numerous shows, shopping outlets, and eateries. And in the summer, you can alternate between the roller coasters and the neighboring mammoth water park. For a unique experience, check out Lakeside Amusement Park, one of the nation's oldest amusement parks—it still even has a classic Ferris Wheel from 1908. Its Miniature Steam Train carries passengers through the park and around a picturesque lake—which features bumper boats—letting all take in the aura of a traditional carnival. Adjoining the larger park is Kiddie Land, complete with 15 rides for children under eight.
Sports are another great way to have fun with the whole family, whether that be hockey with the Avalanche, baseball with the Rockies, or soccer with the Rapids.
