Description:
Centrally located Restaurant L'Alsace is one of Copenhagen's oldest French restaurants, and has been serving authentic food from the Alsace region of France/Austria since it opened in 1978. It can be found in a charming old courtyard just off walking street Strøget at the Kongens Nytorv end, with an entrance both down a small staircase from Ny Østergade as well as onto the winter garden terrace from Pistolstræde. A little old-fashioned perhaps in comparison to the slew of trendy restaurants that have opened their doors since, but the courtyard setting is particularly romantic in the summer, when it's possible to sit outside in the shade of the neighboring half-timbered houses. The restaurant's specialty is the homemade terrine de foie gras with marsala jelly & toast, as well as Alsace and French classics like bouillabaisse á la Niçoise and choucroute alsacienne (salt marinated white cabbage boiled with white wine, two kinds of sausage and bacon).
