Not to be confused with Hansens Gamle Familiehave on Pile Alle, Hansen's Køkken (Kitchen) was recently taken over by the owner's big brother Steffan Schiøtt - of Schiøtts in Christianshavn - who has transformed the place from a rather old-fashioned locale used for functions into a reasonably-priced, contemporary Danish restaurant. Currently open Thursday through Saturday for evening meals only, the bistro-style restaurant offers simple and rustic 3-course menus using only seasonal ingredients for DKK 300 a head with a small selection of wine chosen by the chef on the attractive checked tablecloths. With dishes like parsnip soup, smoked salmon, braised beef and apple crumble, Hansens offers visitors a gentle start into the contemporary Danish kitchen.
