NileGuide Expert tip:
Ideal for health-conscious and veggies
Description:
Grød is one of those geographically-specific dishes that you just have to try in order to "get" it. The word 'grød' gets lost in translation; you could say porridge, but it's more than just oatmeal. You could say gruel, but it's far tastier than that word suggests. At any rate, "Grød" is the world's first grød bar, where you can taste bowlfuls of this soft, mushy food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We suggest starting the day with oatmeal with fruit compote and nuts (DKK 30), and trying a vegetarian risotto (DKK 50) for a more substantial meal. Vegetarians and the health-conscious should love the new eatery, which opened in September 2011 and is run by two young twenty-somethings who went to high school together. Grød is located next to the organic delis, fair trade coffee shops, sushi joints and wine bars of Copenhagen's offbeat foodie street, Jægersborggade in Nørrebro.
